“We Had Community Involvement” – Cephus Johnson on Oscar Grant and Fighting Against Police Violence

Cephus ‘Uncle Bobby’ Johnson, uncle of Oscar Grant, whose murder by Californian police was the subject of the Hollywood film Fruitvale Station, came to London to speak at the United Family and Friends Campaign march, an annual march of remembrance for victims of police violence. Grant’s case was a rare example of a trial in which a police officer was convicted and sentenced for manslaughter.
