The New Party, Beyond London

There will be a new party. And also, there already is one.

Pamela Fitzpatrick is the Director of Collective, a group that coordinated independent candidates at the 2024 elections. She’s calling for a new party that can unite the left.

Meanwhile, Jamie Driscoll has launched Majority, a new party that’s sourcing its policies through people’s assemblies. It argues participatory democracy is more likely to cut through than the standard left-wing tub-thumping.

Shockat Adam MP represents Leicester South as an independent. He’s a member, with Jeremy Corbyn, of the Independent Alliance group of MPs, and sees a path forward by pushing for more independent MPs.

In this episode of our series on the new party, we put their strategies head to head.
