Palestine Action Granted Permission to Appeal Ban

The supreme court has granted Huda Ammori permission to appeal the proscription of Palestine Action.

Last month, the court of appeal upheld the government’s decision in July 2025 to ban the activist group – but its founder has now been given permission to fight the ban.

The supreme court has said the hearing will be expedited to this autumn.

Ammori wrote on X: “The fight continues.

“We will be arguing in the supreme court that the ban is unlawful, as it is disproportionate to free speech and the right to protest.”

The decision comes as hundreds of peaceful protesters were arrested outside the court for allegedly displaying support for Palestine Action – although video evidence suggests that some neither held a placard nor committed any other offence.

In an official statement, Ammori added: “This unprecedented attack on free speech and the right to protest in this country is already having a chilling effect at a time when speaking out about Israel’s crimes could not be more urgent.

“We will continue to fight this proscription all the way to the supreme court and, if necessary, to the European court of human rights to overturn what has become one of the most extreme attacks on free speech and the right to protest in modern British history.”
