Job: Social Media Editor

We are looking to grow our social media team with a full-time Social Media Editor to work alongside our Social Lead in creating, coordinating and maintaining our output across platforms including (but not limited to) Instagram, TikTok, and X.
Social media is a crucial editorial output, often perceived as our ‘voice’. It is how we get articles, audio and video content to our existing audience and how we reach new ones. It is also increasingly how we respond first to breaking news and fill gaps in our coverage.
You will be expected to integrate into existing teams, working below  the Social Lead and closely with other section heads to implement workflows and bespoke strategies to produce and optimise content. You will edit and produce social-first content, with a particular focus on news.
You will need excellent copywriting skills and experience in journalism; experience managing social media channels; a keen political sense and active engagement with current affairs;  impeccable attention to detail and a thorough understanding of different social platforms and how they can be used to reach new audiences. A constructive and flexible approach is crucial, as well as a willingness to innovate.
You will work well with existing teams and the Social Lead, and make some autonomous decisions about editorial priorities. You will be able to operate the day-to-day aspects of this role independently when needed. You will be unflappable, tapped into what’s happening and willing to work flexible hours to fulfil the needs of a growing media organisation.

We particularly encourage women and people from underrepresented backgrounds to apply.
