A framed photograph of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, taken shortly after his arrest last week, was mounted in the Louvre by a group of British activists.
Campaign group Everyone Hates Elon put up the picture of the former prince slumped in the back of a police car in the world-famous Parisian museum on 22 February, with the caption: “He’s Sweating Now.”
The ex-Prince was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office on 19 February by officers investigating his dealings with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein.
Everyone Hates Elon is known for its parody adverts and posters taking aim at billionaires and far-right pundits like Elon Musk.
The infamous photograph, snapped by Reuters photographer Phil Noble, was reportedly taken down by Louvre officials 15 minutes after it was put up.
The activists told Reuters: “We thought we’d show the former Prince Andrew how the world will remember him by putting up this iconic arrest photo at the Louvre.”
“We’re sick of obscenely rich, powerful men thinking they can do exactly as they please,” they added on the group’s Instagram page.
Mountbatten-Windsor was released after eleven hours in custody. He denies all wrongdoing in relation to Jeffrey Epstein.
