Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor perpetrated sex crimes in the US, a congressman has said.

Speaking in the chamber of the US House of Representatives on Tuesday, Thomas Massie, a Republican representative from Kentucky, called for an investigation into the former prince and other prominent figures in the wake of revelations in the Epstein files.

“We want perpetrators of these crimes to be investigated and prosecuted,” Massie said.

He then named a list of alleged perpetrators, which included, “Prince Andrew, who committed sex crimes in the United States.”

He added: “Perhaps hearing these names will shame the Department of Justice into delivering justice.”

Massie was calling for a second Epstein files transparency act, claiming that US president Donald Trump’s administration “continues to withhold over three million files”.

Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his royal titles in October last year. He has repeatedly denied committing sex offences or any wrongdoing.

In February he was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office after files released by the US Department of Justice appeared to show he had shared sensitive government documents and commercial information with Epstein while working as trade envoy. He was released under investigation the same day.

The ex-Prince has also been accused of sexually abusing one of Epstein’s trafficking victims, Virginia Giuffre. He paid her a settlement in 2022, made without admitting any liability. He continues to deny the allegation and has denied ever meeting Giuffre.
